Why nabi

We don't design tones.
We notice them.

nabi means butterfly. A butterfly wears its loudest colors for the world and its softest ones for itself, and it was that soft side, glimpsed on a glasshouse rail one spring morning, that started all of this.

Any mall can sell you every bright pink in the world. We went hunting instead: through swatch books, vendors and fabric samples, for the rare muted tones that carry a quieter kind of beauty. Then we matched them in garment-dyed cotton, gave each one a name and a story, and released it once.

small dye lots · never twice the same

“When the dye lot ends, so does the tone. What stays is the story of where it was found.”

Some colors are found,
not made.

01

Found

A color is noticed somewhere it wasn't supposed to matter. Then the hunt begins: hundreds of vendors, a thousand swatches, until one finally matches the memory.

02

Crafted

Every tone is shaped into its own piece: a name, a story, a label of its own. Where it was found stays part of what you wear.

never “pink”, always Underwing

03

Released, once

Small dye lots, counted. A retired tone never restocks; it simply lingers in the stories it left behind.
